Vienna BioCenter Alumni Network Online Launch
On March 27th, the Vienna BioCenter proudly hosted the online launch of its Alumni Network Platform, marking an exciting step forward in fostering lifelong connections across our scientific community. The event welcomed alumni and current staff from all four partner institutes — GMI, IMBA, IMP, and Max Perutz Labs — for an engaging session filled with networking, inspiration, and forward-thinking dialogue.
A central highlight was the panel discussion featuring alumni from diverse professional paths, who shared invaluable insights and sparked thoughtful conversation about how the network can grow into a vibrant, collaborative hub.
Participants expressed a clear vision: the Alumni Network should serve as a dynamic space to stay connected, exchange career guidance, support venture building, and enable in-person meetups around the world. Suggestions included organizing yearly networking events, offering mentorship across disciplines, and facilitating international job opportunities and expert collaborations.
Equally inspiring were the many alumni eager to give back — offering to mentor, host panels, share job-hunting tips, and connect others to their professional networks. Contributions ranged from career advice on transitions from academia to industry, to insights into biotech startups and collaborative educational content.
The positive response and enthusiastic participation reaffirmed the network’s potential to grow into a key resource for career development, community building, and lifelong learning.
